WHO WE ARE?

‘Uffo’ means ‘the good smelling wind before the rain’ in Somali. It is a metaphor for an active movement or the beginning of something good.

Uffo Athletic and Leisure Group provides and promotes access to physical activities in the Somali and Muslim communities through walking, running, athletic activities and traditional playground & boardgames in an environment that is open, understanding and culturally valued.

We are a not-for-profit organisation based in the UK that pursues to enhance and support local communities to lead healthier and happier lives. Our passion lies in helping others to become more active, whatever their level of fitness or health status by encouraging them to lead a more active lifestyle.

We offer high quality athletic activities and traditional boardgames for children in schools and in community settings. Children will learn to develop ‘fundamental movement skills’ such as agility, balance, coordination, catching, jumping and throwing as well as essential social skills and gain social networks.

We also encourage parents and carers to become more active through our Health and Wellbeing Programmes and become positive role models for their children and to support habits of physical activity for the whole family.
